Who We Are

Asia Pacific Public Relations was formed in January, 1993, by former journalist and corporate communications executive Tony Harrington to offer specialist communications services for the aviation and tourism sectors.

Tony Harrington – Director

Tony has extensive experience in journalism and corporate public relations, the latter specifically in senior airline PR and advisory roles.

Prior to forming Asia Pacific Public Relations in January, 1993, Tony was Public Affairs Manager of the Australian Airlines Group (1990-92).

When Australian was acquired by Qantas Airways, Tony became Public Relations Manager, Australia Region, for the combined Qantas / Australian entity (1992-93).

Before entering the airline industry, Tony spent almost 14 years as a newspaper and magazine journalist (1977-1990), working for publications including The Australian Financial Review (Sydney, 1987-90) and The Age (Melbourne, 1980-87). He was also Australasian correspondent for the international management magazine Airline Business (1987-90) and Commuter Regional Airline News International (1987-90).

In 1987 Tony won Australia’s Sir Donald Anderson Award for Aviation Journalism. He is a member of both The National Aviation Press Club of Australia and the Australian Society of Travel Writers.

At Asia Pacific, Tony has worked with over 60 clients on activities ranging from airline and hotel launches to major brand re-launches and crisis response.

Maryline Morini – Account Consultant

Maryline joined Asia Pacific in 2007 after having previously worked in public relations roles in the hotel and tourism industries.
Maryline works closely with Asia Pacific’s airline, hotel and cruise clients on a range of media and marketing activities, including news releases, online newsletters and marketing and promotional activities.

She has also worked on major launches for clients including Etihad Airways and the Wendy Johnson Shopping Guides, and on destination marketing activities for a major client in New Zealand.

Maryline is a member of the Australian Society of Travel Writers.

Alexandra Sexton – Account Consultant

The newest member of our team is Alexandra Sexton, joining Asia Pacific in 2010 to help accommodate our growing portfolio of clients.
Alexandra works closely with our airline, cruise and hotel customers on consumer news releases, travel industry newsletters, events and development of marketing collateral.

Miles Gilbert – Planning Consultant

Miles joined Asia Pacific in 1997, having previously occupied roles including tour guide in Queenstown, New Zealand.

His key role is to assist with event management and develop and manage media and travel industry familiarisation tours.

Miles has worked with key clients including Bombardier Business Aircraft during the Australian International Air Show, and played a key role in organising one day sightseeing flights to Antarctica for more than 300 journalists over nine journeys.

Alison Chambers – UK Partner

Through her company Emerald Media UK, Alison has been the London partner of Asia Pacific Public Relations since our commencement in 1993, specialising in communications services for aviation clients.

Alison and Tony have worked together on a wide range of activities for clients in both the Australasian region and UK/Europe, including ExecuJet Business Aviation, BAE Systems (British Aerospace) and Antarctica Sightseeing Flights.

Alison also provides UK distribution and representation for Asia Pacific clients as required, as does Asia Pacific for Emerald Media clients trading or marketing in the Australasian region.

Jane Stanbury – Europe Partner

Based in Spain, Jane is the European partner of Asia Pacific and works closely with Emerald Media UK, specialising in luxury tourism and aviation marketing.

Jane offers comprehensive specialist coverage throughout Europe, providing significant communications and distribution support for Asia Pacific’s clients from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, while Asia Pacific reciprocates with southern hemisphere support for European clients.

Anthony Philips – Asia Partner

Anthony is based in Singapore, and has been the Asia Partner of Asia Pacific Public Relations since 2006.

He was previously the corporate communications representative of Airbus for the whole of Asia, and before that owner of a major Hong Kong-based PR consultancy, later acquired by a global agency group.

Anthony is impeccably connected to key media and aviation industry figures throughout Asia, and through his company, eacomms, has worked closely with Asia Pacific on numerous joint projects in the aviation industry in Asia and Australia. Asia Pacific and eacomms have a strong reciprocal partnership covering Asia and the Australasia and Pacific regions.
