The recently launched fourth affiliate of LAN Airlines, LAN Colombia, and Proexport (an organization that promotes international tourism, foreign direct investment and exports that are not traditional in Colombia) agreed to work together for the international promotion of Colombia, its different destinations and attractions, through the new domestic route network LAN Colombia offers to the country and the international coverage that LAN Airlines and all its affiliates provide.
Proexport develops promotional tools to work proactively and to encourage airlines to come to the country.
This is the first time Proexport Colombia has struck a comprehensive work plan with LAN, in order to boost tourism and various tourism attractions through the network of domestic routes (22 destinations out of Bogota) that LAN Colombia operates.
The foregoing is intended to strengthen Colombia as a tourist destination to the world, mainly in the U.S., Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Uruguay and Bolivia. The work involves both mass marketing campaigns to the end customers as well as destination development and training for travel agencies and tour operators worldwide.
Damian Scokin, CEO International at LAN, referred to the alliance: “We are very excited to start flying in Colombia. And for LAN, this plan to work with Proexport means having a strategic partner in the country, which will greatly help us to strengthen our reach to passengers from around the world, so they can see the wonders of Colombia, through the 22 destinations that we operate within the country”, he said.
Meanwhile, the President of Proexport, Maria Claudia Lacouture, stressed the alliance as “an excellent opportunity to promote Colombian tourist destinations abroad. And it means recognition of Colombia as an international benchmark for doing business”.
In turn, Hernan Pasman, executive director LAN Colombia, stated: “Colombia is a key player in Latin America and has become a reference country in the process of growth and consolidation of LAN in the region and the world, given its geographical location and strong economic growth. One of our commitments upon arrival to the country is to contribute to economic development, promoting tourism in Colombia, and positioning it as a world-class destination, “he said.
Over 50 industry representatives, as well as executives of ProExport and LAN attended the closure of the agreement.
